Item Properties and Sales

Recording item properties during a sales transaction is simply a matter of entering the additional information in the custom field you have created in managing item properties.  This can be done by manually entering the information on the handheld with the keypad or in Desktop Order Entry System or by scanning a GS1-128 barcode containing data for properties you have previously setup.

Item properties can be easily added to sales transactions in either Desktop Order Entry System or the Mobileezy Handheld App.  They can be added automatically with a barcode scanner and GS1-128 product barcodes.

During a sales transaction, when items with an item property are added to the sale the quantity field will display a Spl (split) button instead of the usual quantity field.  Tapping on the Spl (split) button will take you to another screen where you will be able to enter the quantity of product and item property for that quantity.

Step by step procedure:

1.Start the sales transaction by selecting the customer and adding items.  When an item with an item property is selected, a Spl button is displayed in place of the quantity button.
2.Tap on the Spl button.

3.Tap on the first line and then enter the quantity in the number pad.

4.Tap on the line and then enter the item property information in the relevant fields.

5.Enter additional lines by tapping on the quantity field and entering the item property for the second line.  Continue until all lines are entered.

6.Press the Back button. The total quantity for the item is displayed on the item information screen.

Note: Where multiple properties for an item are required, the item split screen will allow for entry of information for all the required properties.

During a sales transaction in DOES, items with an item property are displayed with the quantity field greyed out.  Clicking on the greyed out field will open a window for entry of the product quantity and item property for that quantity.

Step by Step Procedure:

1.Start the sales transaction by selecting the customer and starting to add transaction items.  When an item is added for which an item property is required, the quantity field will appear greyed out.  You will be unable to enter a quantity directly into the field.
2.Click on the greyed out quantity field.

3.Enter the product quantity and item property details in the item property window and then press the save button.

4.The total quantity for the item is now displayed on the transaction screen.

Item properties can be automatically added to a transaction using a barcode scanner and GS1-128 barcodes.  If your products are labeled using barcodes that contain any of the GS1 fields listed in Managing Item Properties (Item Property Types) these will be compatible with Mobileezy.  To enable scanning of the product and its properties to a transaction some setup must first be completed:

Setup:

1.Set the product barcode to import into Mobileezy as described in Working with Barcodes
2.Setup each of the item properties as a property type as described in Managing Item Properties
3.On the handheld device under the advanced tab of the preferences menu, tick scan to sales item screen.

To complete the transaction:

1.Start a new sale and add the customer.
2.Tap the Add Items button
3.Scan the product barcode.  This will automatically take you to the split screen with the item property added for a quantity of one.
4.Scan the barcode again to increment the quantity by one or alternatively enter the correct quantity in the Qty field.
5.If you have another of the same product with a different value for item property, scan this item to add it to the order.
6.When you have finished adding all item properties for the item, press OK.  Continue until all items are added to the transaction and then finalise the transaction as described in Sales Transactions.
